Where is Gillingham close to?
Chatham is an easy 5-10 minute drive away and although the University campuses are *technically* located here, Gillingham is still within easy reach. A little further and you’ll reach the historic town of Rochester, which was famously once home to Charles Dickens.
Transport links to and from Gillingham
London is a mere 45-minute train ride away, thanks to the HS2 service into St Pancras. There’s a reliable bus service that operates all over the Medway region, with buses arriving every 10 minutes or so. If you drive, there’s good access to the rest of Medway as well as the other Kent towns via the M2/A2 and the M20.
What is there to do in Gillingham?
Gilligham and great shopping go hand-in-hand. The town centre itself has all the usual high street brands, plus there’s a regular weekly market selling everything from local fruit and veg to clothes. For an even greater dose of retail therapy, Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre is located south of the main town.
The Waterside boasts a range of great bars and restaurants – and even its own man-made beach and outdoor swimming pool. With even more investment on the horizon, this area is only set to grow more. Watch this space!
