Why move to Chatham in Kent?
Chatham in Kent is (arguably) the best town in Medway for students. Not only are the University of Kent AND Canterbury Christ Church University Medway campuses based there, it’s also home to the University of Greenwich as well as the University for the Creative Arts.
A mere 42-minute train ride to London Victoria, its excellent transport links makes those trips home laden with dirty laundry all the easier. Plus, the nearby Medway towns Gillingham and Rochester are ridiculously close (less than ten minutes by car).
But what else, other than a killer location, does Chatham have going for it for students? Coming up, we’ll share our favourite things about living in Chatham.
Things to do in Chatham for students
First up is the Historic Dockyard. Home to the Medway campuses for UKC, CCCU and the University of Greenwich, and also the filming location for Call The Midwife, the Instagram-ready Dockyard is full of great things to do, and even has its own gin! Students get free entry into the Dockyard along with discounted tickets for up to five guests (in case you’re stuck for things to do during those parental visits).
Chatham also has some great shops and restaurants, many based at the Pentagon Shopping Centre. For nights out, students and locals alike head to the Tap N Tin which is renowned for its cheap beer and good music.
What about student jobs in Chatham, Kent?
